Get Passport in Ten Days with Aadhar
There is Great News for the first time passport applicants of India !!!
You can now get your passport at your doorstep in Ten days with India’s own Aadhar Card (Unique Identification Card or UID) has come to the rescue of the millions of Indians wanting to apply for a passport but are weary of taking several rounds to the passport office and then going through the long police verification process,a major reason for delay is issuance of a passport.Indian Citizens holding the Aadhar Card can now apply for a passport under normal category by furnishing Aadhaar card as a proof of Address and Identity.Simply put this system seeks to address the delay caused by the prior police verification process in the issuance of passports.
The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India(MEA) has taken a huge step forward to expedite the issuance of passports. The Ministry is of the view that when an applicant already has an Aadhaar Card or has applied for one, his/her identity is established to a large extent and it only needs to be confirmed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and validated by an equally competent authority. This forms the basis of this simplified process and hence, the Ministry decided to make use of :
⇒Aadhaar card for identification of the applicant
⇒The database of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for validating the applicant’s criminal antecedents.
Therefore the applicant’s self-declaration on all fronts i.e.his/her citizenship, criminal antecedents, criminal proceedings,summons/ warrants being found sufficient enough proof for validation of the applicant’s identity, the government will issue a fresh passport skipping the police verification,on condition that the applicant will need to definitely get the police verification done after the issuance of the Passport. The applicant may now be given the address of the police station responsible for this verification at the time of issue of passport itself thus helping him/her to complete the process of verification at the earliest.Any incorrect declaration by the applicant would entail impounding or revocation of the passport.
The MEA has made Aadhaar Card a mandatory requirement for issuance of passports. In case the applicant does not have an Aadhaar card, his/her Aadhaar enrolment number would suffice since the identity of a person who has enrolled has also been verified.
